Still trying to find the right format and level of detail for these posts, so I’m going to try scaling back to just a bit more than bullet points, since these are really only for me, and not remotely interesting enough for anyone else.
Monday
A good volume of walking, around 8k total, and after a nearly 17k run yesterday, I gave myself a near-total rest day, aside from a short evening yoga session, reading and journaling. I actually wrote a little too much, working on a new post and triggered a bit of cognitive and visual fatigue. We also dropped our CIBC mortgage guy after being strung along with a vague promise of preferential rates, with continually changing goalposts. Long story, not worth rehashing.
Tuesday
Another day with good walking of about 7k, plus a 6k evening run and short resistance and yoga sessions, reading and journaling. I’ve canceled my second physio session this week, after introducing a few new exercises and wanting everything to settle down a bit.
Wednesday
No resistance, but all my other stuff was done – yoga, reading, journaling and a 47k bike ride. The stickiest habit to change is the switch from drums to piano, even though I have everything I need to take up the latter. Just need to get motivated to dedicate regular time to it.
Thursday
A snappyish 8k run (4:54/km) was followed by reading, journaling and yoga. I also continued my longer post about Atomic Habits for TBI recovery. The book is very on-point for what I’ve been going through for the past year and a quarter. On the running front, I’m going to begin doing one structured workout a week next week, likely a threshold session in the 5-8k total distance range.
Friday
After my morning Shandy walk I actually sat down at the drums for a very short warmup for a trainer ride with hardish short intervals, and then a 75 minute full body resistance session. It was my turn to make dinner (fried tofu and veggie sammies), and a little whisky with Dept. Q, our current Netflix binge, rounded out things.
Saturday
I did another 35k on the trainer, the afternoon Shandy walk, followed by a very short yoga, reading and journaling, and more Dept. Q in the evening.
Sunday
Visited île Sauvage for an afternoon beverage (I don’t think we’ve been since we lived in Victoria in 2019) and then grabbed a bite at Virtuous Pie. All this after a property drive-by in Saanich that we’ll probably arrange a viewing for. Skipped my long run and yoga, but did a short resistance session with mostly my newer physio exercises.
